You will receive the test result by email the following day. The email serves as a temporary certificate. The official certificate will be mailed within 2-3 weeks.

Before the test and when the test is returned, the examiner verifies the participant's identity. Only a valid OFFICIAL identification document is accepted (passport, driver’s license, or ID card).
The test consists of 40 questions. The questions are statements that are answered with TRUE or FALSE. At least 34 questions must be answered correctly. An unanswered question or an unclear response will be considered incorrect.
During the test, talking or using aids such as books, phones, or computers is not allowed.
The duration of the test is at least 20 minutes and at most 45 minutes.
You can choose the language of the test in advance: the options are Finnish, English, or Swedish.
The test includes questions from the following areas:
Basics of microbiology and food contamination
Food poisoning
Hygienic working practices
Personal hygiene
Cleaning and sanitation
Own check plan
Legislation, authorities
The test questions vary each time, and passing the test by guessing is unlikely. It is advisable to prepare for the test by familiarizing yourself with the topics to be covered and the sample questions.
You can find the sample questions on the Finnish Food Authority's website. When you pass the test, you will receive the Hygiene Competence Card issued by the Finnish Food Authority.
